Most UAE moves go by sea. A full flat or house fills a sole-use container; a one-bed or a part-load shares a container with other consignments on the same sailing. If you need to land before your furniture does, we can send a small air-freight allowance ahead — a couple of suitcases’ worth of clothes and paperwork — so you are not living out of a hotel wardrobe.
What we move, and how we pack it for the Gulf
Heat and humidity are the enemy on a Gulf move. Containers sit on a quay in full sun and cross the tropics on the way down, so we export-wrap upholstery, wax wooden furniture against drying, and double-box anything with a screen. We use proper export cartons, not the supermarket boxes that collapse after one sea crossing.
A word on what the UAE will not let in. Alcohol, anything resembling a weapon (including some kitchen and decorative pieces), pork products, and certain medicines and media are restricted or banned. We will flag anything obvious before it goes in the container — it is far cheaper to leave it in London than to have a container held at Jebel Ali.

The route: Acton to Jebel Ali
We collect in West London and consolidate at our Acton base. From there the container runs down to a South Coast port — usually Southampton or Felixstowe — and sails through the Med, down the Suez Canal and into Jebel Ali, the port that serves Dubai and, by road, Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates.
At the UAE end you will need to be in the country, with your residence visa and Emirates ID either issued or in progress, because household-goods clearance is tied to your residency. We work with a clearing agent in Dubai who handles the port formalities and the run to your door, whether that is a tower in Downtown or a compound out towards Al Barsha.
Customs and paperwork for the UAE
The UAE treats a genuine relocation of used household effects far more kindly than a shipment of new goods. Customs will want a detailed inventory (in English), a copy of your passport and UAE residence visa, and often a Bill of Lading and a packing list — we prepare the inventory and the export documents as part of the move.
New items still in packaging can attract duty, so if you have bought furniture specifically for the move, keep it out of the "used effects" story and tell us — it changes how the shipment is declared. We would rather get the declaration right once than have your container opened for inspection.

Moving from West London to Dubai & the UAE
Do I need to be in Dubai before my shipment arrives?
For household goods, yes — UAE customs clearance is linked to your residency, so you (or an authorised representative) need to be in the country with your visa and Emirates ID in progress when the container clears. We time the sailing around that and can send an air-freight allowance ahead so you have essentials while you wait.
Can you ship a part-load if I only have a flat?
That is the norm for one- and two-bed flats in Acton and Chiswick. Your goods share a container with other consignments on the same route, which keeps the cost of a smaller move sensible. A full house usually justifies a sole-use container.
What can’t I bring into the UAE?
Alcohol, weapons and weapon-like items, pork products, some medicines, and certain printed or recorded media are restricted or prohibited. We check your inventory against the current UAE list before anything is loaded and tell you what to leave behind.
Sea or air — which should I choose?
Sea for the bulk of a home; it is the sensible way to move furniture and boxes. Air for a small, urgent allowance you need immediately on arrival. Many of our Dubai movers do both: the container by sea, two suitcases and the paperwork by air.
Do you cover Abu Dhabi and the other emirates?
Yes. Most UAE household shipments clear through Jebel Ali and then run by road, so Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and the northern emirates are all reachable from the same sailing. Tell us the delivery emirate and we brief the clearing agent accordingly.
