International removals from West London to New Zealand

New Zealand is Australia’s twin on the map and its match for biosecurity. A container from a South Coast port takes the long way south to Auckland or on to Wellington and the South Island, so a New Zealand move is planned well ahead. The West London people we move out tend to be going for the life change — the space, the outdoors, the slower pace — and often have family already settled near Auckland or in the Waikato.

Sea freight

Sole-use or shared container to Auckland, Wellington or the South Island.

Air freight

A small essentials allowance for the long haul to the far side of the world.

Storage in between

Not ready at the far end? We can hold your things in secure storage at our West London base and ship when the timing works.

The shipping is by sea. What defines a New Zealand move is MPI — Biosecurity New Zealand — which inspects incoming goods as strictly as Australia does, and for the same reason: an island nation protecting its farming and its ecosystems.

MPI biosecurity — clean, dry, declared

Biosecurity New Zealand cares about soil, seeds, plant and animal material, and food. Anything used outdoors — hiking boots, tents, garden tools, bikes, golf clubs — needs to be scrupulously clean and dry before it is packed. Wooden and cane items get checked. Vacuum cleaners get emptied. It sounds fussy; it is exactly what stops your container being held for a treatment on arrival.

We work through the shed and the garage with you, not just the house. And we are blunt about it: declaring a jar of honey or a bag of seeds is free, and hiding it can cost you an inspection charge and a delay. Honesty is the cheap option here.

  • Outdoor gear cleaned and dried before it goes in the box
  • Food, plant and animal products declared, never concealed
  • Wooden, cane and woven items checked for biosecurity risk
  • An inventory that matches the container, item for item

The long haul south

We collect across west and south-west London, consolidate at Acton, and route the container to your New Zealand port — usually Auckland, then Wellington and the South Island ports for Christchurch and beyond. The distance is why we plan a New Zealand move earlier than almost anything except Australia.

On arrival the shipment clears customs and MPI before delivery. Our agent at the New Zealand end handles the inspection and the final run, whether that is a villa in an Auckland suburb or a place out in the countryside.

Customs, visas and what you can bring

New Zealand lets you bring used household and personal effects free of duty and GST if you are moving to live there, hold the right visa, and have owned and used the items. New goods can be assessed. Some things — certain foods, plant material, ivory and the like — simply cannot come. We check the inventory against the current rules before anything is loaded in Acton.

We collect right across west London — Acton, Chiswick, Ealing, Shepherd’s Bush and out to Brentford — as well as the wider west, south-west and north-west London catchment. Everything is packed and consolidated at our Acton base before it leaves the country.

Common questions

Moving from West London to New Zealand

Is New Zealand biosecurity as strict as Australia’s?

Effectively, yes. Biosecurity New Zealand (MPI) inspects incoming household goods for soil, seeds, food, and plant or animal material. Outdoor equipment must be clean and dry, and food and plant items must be declared. We pack and prepare your shipment specifically to pass that inspection.

How far ahead should I plan a New Zealand move?

Well ahead — it is one of the longest routes we run. The sea transit and the coordination around your visa and arrival mean early planning pays off. Get your inventory to us early and we build the shipping schedule around when you need to land.

Which New Zealand ports do you deliver to?

Auckland is the main one, with Wellington and the South Island ports serving Christchurch and the lower country. Your delivery address sets the routing, so tell us whether you are North or South Island when we scope the move.

Do used belongings attract duty or GST?

Used household and personal effects generally enter free of duty and GST if you are relocating to live in New Zealand, hold the right visa, and have owned and used the goods. New items can be assessed. We flag anything questionable before loading.

What should I keep for the journey rather than ship?

Because the sea transit is long, a small air allowance or hand luggage of clothes, documents and essentials is worth planning. We will help you decide what to send ahead so you are comfortable while the container is on the water.
