International removals from West London to Germany

Germany is a road move, and a busy one out of West London. Berlin for the creatives and the startups, Frankfurt for the bankers, Munich for the engineers and the corporate transfers, Hamburg for shipping and media — the West London professionals we pack for Germany are usually following a job into a well-organised country that rewards paperwork done properly.

Road freight

Dedicated or part-load by road, via the Channel Tunnel or a short ferry.

Part-load / groupage

Your goods share a lorry on the Germany run — sensible for a flat or a partial move.

Storage in between

Not ready at the far end? We can hold your things in secure storage at our West London base and ship when the timing works.

The lorry runs from Acton to the Channel — Eurotunnel from Folkestone or a Dover ferry — and on through Belgium or the Netherlands into Germany. Since Brexit, a move to Germany is a customs export, and the smooth ones are the moves where the inventory and the transit paperwork were prepared before the van left London.

Post-Brexit customs, done properly

A household move from the UK to Germany is now an export from the UK and an import into the EU. For someone genuinely relocating, the EU’s transfer-of-residence relief means used personal effects can usually come in without import duty and VAT — but only against a proper inventory and the right declaration. We prepare the detailed packing inventory and handle the transit paperwork (the T-forms and the customs formalities) so your goods are not held at the border.

The German side rewards order. You will register your address once you arrive — the Anmeldung at the local Bürgeramt — and that registration underpins a lot of German life, from your tax ID to your bank account. It is not something we do for you, but we plan the move around when you can be there to receive the shipment and get registered.

  • EU transfer-of-residence relief on used effects — against a proper inventory
  • Transit and customs paperwork (T-forms) prepared for you
  • Road freight via Eurotunnel or ferry, then into Germany
  • Move timed around your arrival and your Anmeldung

The route: Acton to the German cities

We collect across west and south-west London, consolidate at Acton, and run the lorry to the Channel and across the near Continent. The German autobahn network then takes the shipment to Berlin in the east, the Rhine-Main area around Frankfurt, Bavaria and Munich in the south, or Hamburg and the north.

German cities mix grand old apartment blocks with no lift and modern flats with strict move-in rules. In cities like Berlin and Munich you often need a parking suspension (a Halteverbot) to hold kerb space for the lorry — we plan that into the delivery so the crew are not carrying your wardrobe half a street.

What we move

Full households, single rooms, and everything between. German apartments are frequently let unfurnished — sometimes without even a fitted kitchen — so a lot of our Germany movers ship more than they expect to, kitchens included. We export-wrap furniture for the road, and we are straight about access at both ends: a fourth-floor Altbau with no lift is a real job, and we would rather plan for it than be surprised by it.

We collect right across west London — Acton, Chiswick, Ealing, Shepherd’s Bush and out to Brentford — as well as the wider west, south-west and north-west London catchment. Everything is packed and consolidated at our Acton base before it leaves the country.

Common questions

Moving from West London to Germany

Do I pay import duty moving to Germany after Brexit?

For a genuine relocation, the EU’s transfer-of-residence relief usually means your used household effects enter without import duty and VAT — provided you have a proper inventory and the right declaration. We prepare the inventory and transit paperwork so the relief is applied cleanly.

What is the Anmeldung and do you handle it?

The Anmeldung is the address registration you complete at the local Bürgeramt after you arrive — it underpins your tax ID, bank account and more. We do not do it for you, but we time the move so you are there to receive the shipment and get registered.

Do you ship kitchens to Germany?

Often, yes. German rentals are frequently unfurnished and can come without a fitted kitchen, so many of our movers ship their kitchen units and appliances. Tell us and we plan the packing and the reinstall access accordingly.

How does the lorry get to Germany?

By road from our Acton base to the Channel — Eurotunnel from Folkestone or a Dover ferry — then through Belgium or the Netherlands into Germany and onward by autobahn to your city. Part-loads share the lorry; a full house can justify a dedicated vehicle.

Will I need a parking permit for the move?

In many German cities, yes — a Halteverbot to reserve kerb space for the lorry outside your building. We arrange it as part of the delivery plan so the crew have somewhere legal to park and are not carrying your belongings a long way.
